I travelled around India with my then partner Deb for about six months from late 2000 to mid 2001. This was the first time the 'career clock' stopped ticking for me. I found the time and inclination to write.
My writing started out as travel missives in emails to friends back home. I found that I enjoyed sending these emails so much that I started writing more and more and posting my writing up on my own web side called uhamusing.com and later a writers' web sites called abctales.com.
Its gratifying to still be writing and posting my writing on the internet. Its feel like I did not know what I was doing in India with all my writing, but the experience has lead me to where I am now - which isn't really anywhere much :D
I still feel like I don't know what I am doing with this expensive little adventuring and writing hobby, but it sure feels right, so I reckon it will lead somewhere - even if that isn't anywhere much but a place that feels right.
I like a number of these India stories. The Kumbh Mela report is special to me for the mad experience of attending the holiest Hindu bathing festival in 144 years to bathe in the Ganges with about 30 million others. Cricket was one of my first reports on sporting spectators - a theme which I continue to pursue with my World Cup 2002 and World Cup 2006 reports. I like the Camel Trek report for reflecting the silliness of such tourist activities. Mumbai has a similar feel and is about our first few days in India. Visas is about our attempts to extend our visas and reflects the endless and beautiful irony of Inida.
